Emerald
Closure of the Emerald publishing program in 2025.
Terms of use of the Emerald Publishing Limited program:
- affiliation of the corresponding author with an institution participating in the consortium and subscribing to the collection that includes the journal in which the author intends to publish,
- indication of the institution in the ScholarOne system in the “primary affiliation” field – only the primary affiliation entitles the author to use the program,
- the article must successfully pass peer review and be accepted for publication in a journal included in the Premier collection (xlsx for download), which is subscribed to by Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Program initiation:
The corresponding author submitting an article for review completes a form in the ScholarOne system, indicating their institution in the “primary affiliation” field and providing an email address in the institution’s domain, and selects ‘Yes. I want to publish open access’. If the article is eligible for the program and the program pool has not been exhausted, Emerald will offer a CC-BY license for open access publication within the program at no cost to the author (a so-called voucher). If the article is not eligible or the pool has been exhausted, Emerald will offer a choice: free publication in the subscription model (Emerald Copyright) or open access publication at the author’s expense.
Recommendations:
- the pool of articles is not allocated to institutions; eligibility for funding of publication costs is determined by the order in which articles are accepted for publication,
- Emerald offers the Creative Commons license: CC-BY,
- articles published before the agreement was signed in the traditional model may be converted to open access (retroactive conversion).
