Center for Scientific and Technical Information conducts the project named Digitization of photographic documentation within the domain of history of architecture, history of art, history of cartography and history of technology, from the collections of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Center for Scientific and Technical Information, financed under the contract 519/P-DUN/2016 from the funds of the Minister of Science and Higher Education which are allocated for the dissemination of science.
The digitization process includes a large collection of low and mid-range photographic film, glass negatives and associated documentation (descriptions). The collection was created as a result of research works and student internships supervised by academic staff of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The photographic documentation, collected since the 1870s, shows monuments of industrial construction, monuments of technology and industry, monuments of architecture, architectural studies, historical city plans, inventory measurements and reproductions of iconography.
Glass negative
The above resource concerns the area of Silesia, with a particular focus on Lower Silesia and the city of Wroclaw. These are materials of special value, since they are the only records of monuments that have been destroyed or demolished in the last forty years.
By digitizing these resources, we will be able to secure their safe and long-term storage and archiving in a digital form and, in the next step, we will allow wide access to photographic documentation of monuments, research studies and inventory measurements on the Internet.
